Moxibustion therapy has been used for over 2000 years and is commonly used as an adjunctive technique during acupuncture sessions. Moxibustion stimulates circulation through specific acupuncture points or areas that need treatment and induces a smoother flow of blood and Qi. Moxibustion is effective against cold and dampness in the body. It can treat conditions associated with the “cold” or “yang deficiencies” in Chinese Medicine. Moxibustion is especially useful in treating chronic problems, “deficient conditions” (weakness), and reducing inflammations.
Moxibustion is also effective for treating chronic pain, insomnia, stroke, ulcerative colitis, tinnitus, skin disorders, and immune system disorders. We use a smokeless Moxibustion treatment. Low-smoke moxa coal is manufactured from pressed mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris). The compact, finely ground mugwort is burned under airtight conditions in a similar manner to the cooking process. Later burning of the moxa coal releases less smoke and odor, the coal does not crumble, and the generated heat is very even and is used to warm and stimulate acupuncture points, a process called Moxibustion.
